Jolie Gabor Rhinestone Cocktail Ring
Here is a fun piece with history and glamour. This story begins in Budapest, Hungary where Jolie Gabor was born. Her mother had a successful jewelry business which Jolie eventually took over.
Jolie came to the United States to escape the Nazis in 1945. As you might expect, almost all of the family fortune amassed from the successful jewelry business was lost. How many times have we heard this story? In fact, many of the revered costume jewelers had similar tales to tell. Anyhow, so she gets to the USA with a small amount of money left and is met by her famous daughters, Zsa
Zsa and Eva. Magda is the other Gabor daughter.
Jolie knew jewels so it was only natural for her to open a shop. With some time it became successful although she did close for a short time. It is said that Zsa Zsa helped her open the shop and
it is said that the glamorous lifestyle that the Gabor sisters led also helped
make the shop a success.
This ring along with other jewelry with this mark was designed to look like the real thing. It is tiered and the metal is gold- tone. The rhinestone at the very top is large and deeply faceted. It dazzles like a diamond as do the smaller rhinestones set in tiered circles. Big, bold cocktail rings are very hot right now. This is a ring that will always be stylish no matter the fashion dictates of the day!
