The September Brimfield Fair and Antiques Show

Amazing Adornments at the Brimfield Fair
~ September 2007

Brimfield, Massachusetts

We loved this sign!

The Brimfield Fair took place September 4th through September 9th. We tend to like to go on the first day. We also like to arrive early but our plans were somewhat foiled. We did indeed get to the
fist day. however due to all the packages we needed to ship before leaving, we arrive at around 9.30 rather than at the crack of dawn! The drive was long as we hit rush hour. It was stop and go for a long stretch. We did not let that spoil our quest for fabulous vintage costume jewelry!

It was a beautiful day with clear blue skies with temperatures in the upper 70s. Boy! What a change from the 90s HHH [hazy, hot and humid] weather we encountered in July. It was perfect for
jewel hunting and hunt we did. We parked at the Collins Apple Barn this time and began
our hunt there. We have a favorite tent we visit each time and they did not fail to please with their choices of vintage jewelry. We found so many DeLizza and Elster pieces we almost stopped right there! The good thing about D&E is that it is not signed. You have to know the design
characteristics, other than the obvious 5 link construction. If you do, you can make out really well! That is why I ended up joining the Discovering Juliana Jewelry Group. They have folders and folders of this jewelry and construction hints, names of stones and so much more. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it, because next time we might not be as fortunate to find these fabo jewels at the price we did!!

We also found some really nice Lisner pieces, a cute Florenza trinket box, Coro sterling and Coro
thermoplastic. The piece that we are the most intrigued by was a cute as can be flower basket pin that was signed "Made in Occupied Germany"! Well at least we know the approximate age and the possible areas that it was produced in. We still need to research it and I have not photographed it yet. You can be sure it will be an item of the week when I do!

Before shutting up, I cannot resist saying that we saw a Larry Vrba Christmas tree pin [hard to call something as large as this a pin! LOL!] selling for $1000.00 and a D&E five link bracelet for $250.00!! As dealers ourselves, needless to say, we did NOT buy either. As usual you need to search out the bargains!

Here are some of the images of the day! Enjoy!!
