Eisenberg "Artist Series" Enamel Earrings
During the 1970s the Eisenberg company introduced a line of enamel jewels called the Artist Series. Eisenberg is far better known for their large rhinestone pieces with the now classic "icing". They must have
taken a chance when introducing these to the market as they are such a departure from the jewels their customers had come to know and love.
It is said that some very famous artist were commissioned for some or the work. These clip on earrings sort of have that Picasso look about them. Notice how shiny the enamel is. It has been reported that the company fired the enamel many times to achieve this look and to provide durability.
We also have one of the Artist Series mushroom brooches with an original
hang tag. Some of these pieces are signed with the large E while others
are signed EISENBERG both with the copyright symbol. We have read that this line was not very successful at the time. We do not know what the companies definition of success was. They were around for a long time and most likely had very high standards. In fact they are now reissuing reproductions of some of their earlier famous pieces like this wonderful Eisenberg eagle pin.
We do not see these enamel pieces often. Maybe because they were made in the 1970s are are just now considered vintage? Maybe it is time to discover these wonderful enamel jewels from Eisenberg again!
