The Scandinavians have been producing beautiful metalwork jewelry for a very long time. Some of the oldest arts and crafts societies can be found in Sweden and Finland. Finland established the first school for crafts way back in 1875. This pre- dates the actual Arts and Crafts movement.
Scandinavian jewelry has a look that can be distinguished from other silver jewels. It is clean, modern and has simple lines.
While the Finns are not technically Scandinavian, [different languages, ceded to Russia by Sweden] however they are often placed in the Scandinavian category at jewelry shops. The jewelry does have many, many
similarities.
Lapponia is a shop in Helsinki, Finland that was founded by Pekka Valdemar Anttila in 1960. According to their current web site, Weckstrom designed the first line. The line was said to be sculptural and new to the scene at that time. He used gold nuggets and it came to be known as "LapLand
Jewelry". Lapponia is still in business. They employ several designers and
have a current website.
These cast sterling silver cufflinks are typical of the sculptural type jewelry Weckstrom is known for. You can see that they are quite simple yet dramatic none the less.

Date mark is on the third row right and it is Q7 for 1969.
Weckstrom's makers mark is the W in the first row left.
