While it is not impossible to find jewelry with the hallmark Dujay on the secondary market, we can say it is not easy either! If you find a piece and it is in good shape you probably should purchase it. This costume jewelry was expensive when new and has increased nicely in value over the years. With today's economy and not to mention the lack of quality of some of today's costume jewelry it is nice when a truly collectable piece comes along.
DuJay formed in the early 1930s. The owners or at least one of them made fine jewelry prior to this endeavor. We think their skill at making fine jewelry carried over into the costume jewelry. The beauty of this set is apparent. The weight of the pieces is not nor is the quality of the stones and other workmanship. The red stones look like real rubies and the clears would rival a diamond for sparkle and clarity!
The brooch is stamped sterling while the bracelet is stamped with the makers mark and it has a gold- filled stamp as well. The base metal could be sterling at the band. More than likelyl the ribbed section at the centerpiece/clasp is sterling.
If there was ever a set that was worth the investment, this is it!
