Hattie Carnegie Poured Glass and Enamel Floral Brooch
This morning we noticed the first of the bulbs beginning to poke their heads up through the frozen ground. We had an abundance of snow this year which is now thankfully melting. When we saw the bulbs we were inspired to
make this desirable brooch signed Hattie Carnegie our star this week.
Hattie Carnegie should be an inspiration to all of us. Like so many, who could so freely, she immigrated to America with her family, probably in search of a better life. Well that she certainly achieved and then some. It wasn't easy, but she perservered and soon she was considered one of the premier designers of her day. Still today, her clothing. accessories and jewels are sought after.
This piece is one of manypoured glass pieces produced by/for her company. Exquisite detail is what you would expect and that is exactly what you get.
Also, this appears to be an earlier piece as it is also stamped Patent Pending. We could not find the patent. That stamping would indicate that the piece was produced prior to the copyright law being enacted.
