Vintage Signed Schiaparelli Leaf Form Brooch
Fall into Autumn with this beauty from one of the most sought after designers outside of maybe Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli. Often both names come up in the same conversation about French fashion. In fact, in her highly recommended book, European Designer Jewelry, Ginger Moro couples these ladies in one of the books sections! Stylistically, they did not have much in common outside of high end well made pieces and some of the designers that worked with/for them. Elsa was known to more into Surrealism.

This brooch is in gold- tone metal. The yellow stones are plastic cabochons with flat backs. The leaves are partially covered with green enamel. They have a delicately brushed finish. As you can see it has a gently curved shape and a short stem. Note the finishing wire wrap at the stem! I always notice small finishing touches like this as too me, this separates the good from the greats!
