Fall Fashions ~ What Jewelry you Need Now!

In a word BOLD! Forget understated, demure or subdued. 2006 fall jewelry fashion is attention grabbing, out there stuff.

We all know that during the fall and winter clothing colors become rich and darker. Although the clothing is deeply colored you still need something to provide the “pop”. This season is no exception.

What a feeling…

Yes, the “Flash dance” look that began earlier this year has taken hold. If you have not seen the leggings, dark washed straight legged jeans, minis worn with footless tights. The longer tunic like tops with wide belts along with slouchy boots, well I am not sure where you have been. One thing is for certain, you don’t shop at the mall, nor do you watch celebs. It is okay, that is why we are here, right?

What to look for:

Metal is big. Gold is king of the metals once again. Hammered, multi colored, the braided Yurman look have all been spotted. We have even spotted costume jewelry made with mirrors as embellishments.

The Neck: Links, links and more links. You cannot open a fashion magazine without seeing these long link necklaces. The links come in all shapes. Some are hammered, some are jewel encrusted. None are boring! Long rope necklaces ala the 1980s are so back! Some embellished while others are just LONG and THICK. All of these have are lavish almost gaudy and over the top necklaces that make a statement.

The Wrist: Big cuff bangles of all kinds. We have spotted some with funky
Art Deco designs, oversized leaf motifs and other motifs culled from nature. Charm bracelets heavy and loaded with coins and big baubles and fobs that move when you do. .

The Ears: Lots of cascading earrings have been seen on the super trendy. The look is dangling, drippy and not demure. Movement is the key for this seasons ear adornments.

The Fingers: Cocktail rings with extravagant stones and large bands. Bold and chunky designs abound.

Don’t be shy…

Layering and mixing of styles and textures is everywhere. Layering the real jewels with vintage costume, Gothic with romantic, punk with cameos all seem to fit effortlessly together now.

Even if you don’t wear a whole lot of jewelry, costume, vintage or otherwise, this is the year to try some on. Its fun and can really jazz up an outfit.
