Boston Antiques Weekend
Bayside Exposition Center
The Expo Center
This was our first antique show of the year. We missed the Pier show in New York so
we were determined to make the best of this show. My husband and I purchased a new digital camera for this one. I am used to taking pictures of jewelry with my Nikon d70 digital so forgive some of these pictures!
The show started at 10:00 and yes were arrived early. I am never sure if that is a good idea or if it is better to wait until the last day. This is a two day show and is actually three shows in one. There is The Boston Antiques Show, The Boston Antique Textile and Vintage Fashion Show and The Boston Antiquarian Book & Ephemera Fair. Amazing Adornments is all about the jewelry, accessories and
vanity items so we skipped the third one. Don't get me wrong, I love books, but they are not a part of my business and this was a buying trip.
When we arrived the line was longer than I thought it would be. I didn't mind and my husband seemed to be in the same place. I was getting more and more excited by the minute. After about
fifteen minutes we made our way to the ticket booth, purchased our tickets and the games began!
A small part of the line
We really didn't have a game plan per say as this was the first time this show has been done in Boston. The official program mentions that the producer was told NOT to do it because Boston is a
tough town!!! Game plan or not we did quite well, thank you very much.
The inside of the expo center is quite large and as soon as you walked in all you could see were antique furniture, paintings, and vintage jewelry brimming in showcases. I felt like I was a
kid again!
The first booth we visited was still in the process of being set up but we didn't let that stop us. We quickly purchased a Schiaparelli watermelon rhinestone demi and some other items. All in all
we visited several booths and made purchases at almost all of them. During the coming weeks I will put some images of our finds up [D&E Juliana demi, Hollycraft, Vrba just to name a few] and as you would expect they will all be for sale at www.amazingadornments.com. For now here are a few not so great pictures of the show. Gotta learn this new camera as it is the perfect size for these events.
