McClelland Barclay
Famous "V" Shaped Necklace
McClelland Barclay 1935 - 1943
Here is another fabulous find! This vintage piece can be seen in the book American Costume Jewelry by Roberto and Carla Brunialti among others. This wonderful necklace was designed by
McClelland Barclay and produced by the little known Rice -Weiner company. The ruby red glass is brilliant and the clear rhinestones really pop! A great example of early costume jewelry.
During the 1920s and the 1930s he became world famous for his Art Deco jewelry.
In 1943, while aboard a ship during WWII, he sadly lost his life. His fine creations live on!
The jewelry is rare. He worked in sterling during 1942 and 1943.
The hallmark never appeared on a raised plaque.
