Vrba, Lawrence Vrba That Is!
To say that this brooch is large is a considerable understatement! Have you ever seen a Vrba that did not have oversized proportions? Okay, not every piece of his current costume jewelry does and maybe some of his Haskell work was not as outrageous, but the man definitely has immense costume jewelry down! I mean this brooch is larger than most "real" flowers! The simulated pearls remind me of huge raindrops teetering on the edge of the rhinestone petals.
This phenomenal piece of costume jewelry is better described as wearable art also suitable for display. Heavy emphasis on display! It has a gunmetal or closer to pewter colored backing. Note the mix of green, faceted nearly transparent and opaque rhinestones on the first tier of this stage worthy daisy. This same careful positioning can be seen on the leaves that are arranged along
the rhinestone stem.
