Amazing Adornments Find of the Week
Victor Silson - American and British Ambulance Corps Clip
War Relief items were produced during the 1940s for chartable organizations. War was raging in Europe and naturally this created hardships and worse for many. Several humanitarian
organizations rose to the occasion and even more were created to help those suffering during this time. Many were from the United States prior to its entry into WWII.
Homefront collectors love not only the Relief pins, they also love other items such as fur clips, compacts and the very popular sweetheart pins. Many of our favorite costume jewelry
designers produced these pieces along with sweetheart pins.
This is the Silson "American and British Ambulance Corps" clip. It can be seen in the Brunialti book A
Tribute to America on page 57. The patent 122211 was issued in August of 1940 making this a wonderful piece of history that you can wear or add to a display of patriotic items.

Good morning, Glitzy - this morning, I created an Independence Day post based on the Silson Declaration of Independence pin you've shown. I credited your blog and online store in the post.
In the write-up, I asked a question: Who really designed the pin, Silson or Spratling? Perhaps you know.
Meantime, great work on both blog and store. Happy 4th of July.
Dear Richard:
Thank you for posting and for the kind words.
Thank you also for crediting my blog in your post on the Silson clip. You have written a great piece on the clip!
I am not sure if Spratling designed the piece. I know he did work for Silson, the famous ouwl comes to mind. I check the book A Tribute to America by Roberto and Carla Brunialti and there was no mention of Spratling. That does not mean he did not create the patriotic jewelry for Silosn.
If you find further information please let us know!
Kind regards,
Carolyn [Glitzy]
