Vintage Boucher "Carnation" "Flower of the Month" Brooch
Was it just a clever marketing gimmick and if so who cares! The end result was a series of beautiful floral brooches signed Boucher that were produced to represent each month of the year. They were
produced during the 1960s. They were all gold- tone and had at least one cultured pearl. As expected, they are quite desirable on the secondary market.
Here is a list of the flowers that represent each month. These are not the botanical names, but rather this is how the piece is signed.
JAN: Carnation
Feb: Violets
March: Jonquil
April: Pansy
May: Lilly of the Valley
June: Rose
July: Lilium
August: Gladiolus
September: Dahlia
October: Orchard
November: Mum
December: Daffodil
Here is the Carnation representing January. As you can see it is a beautiful vintage pin that is dimensional in that special Boucher way. What you can't see is how well made the brooch is
and that the middle section moves. This brooch is also stamped with a design number that accompanies the hallmarks on so many Boucher pieces. The cultured pearl is white in color. This brooch rivals any real flower in the garden!
