Two Undervalued Costume Jewelry Producers

Don't get me started. This is one of those subjective areas that many experts cannot agree on. There are so many variables and influences both conscious and not so conscious that go into ones
opinion.

  • What does undervalued mean anyway? In my opinion
costume jewelry that is well made with unique design aspects and high quality
stones or elements that sells for considerably less than comparables of lesser
    quality created by the "coveted".

  • What makes some costume jewelry undervalued?
Many factors and the purpose here is not to examine the reasons, but instead
to examine two of the undervalued jewel designers in my opinion.

Swoboda
~ This Los Angles company, headed by Edward Swoboda until the 1980s,
created costume jewelry that was most often gold plated and set with
genuine gemstones such as jade, coral, opals and peridot. Some of their
costume jewelry was set with cultured pearls. The gorgeous designs sold
at most of the better department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue.

Florenza
~ This New York City company was owned by Dan Kasoff
until 1982. They not only manufactured jewelry
for themselves, they designed and manufactured jewelry for many other
companies. They also created trinket boxes and other vanity items. Florenza
jewelry is distinctive, high quality and has an antique often Victorian
look.
